World Book Day 2016

Date: 3rd Mar 2016 @ 11:30pm

Today was World Book Day and we decided that we would like to contine with our story of 'The Little Red Hen'. We are now amazing at retelling the story in our 'Talk for Writing' sessions and Mrs Yarwood loves the way we say the animals in names in different voices whilst doing the actions. (Ask us at home to show you our retelling and we're sure you will not be disappointed!)

Because we have read the story lots of times (it is one of our Big 5 stories), and we have retold it ourselves lots times, we have been able to make our own story maps. Mrs Yarwood showed us how and then we had a go on our own. The outcomes we produced were fantastic. So today, we have been retelling stories, painting pictures of characters all on top of making bread- just like the little red hen! We loved mixing the ingredients, kneading the dough, shaping it like a hedgehog and then watching it rise as it proved in the warmth. Lots of us liked the smell too!

In the afternoon we had a mystery reader come to visit us. Charlie's mummy came to read to us today, and we really enjoyed her story about a blue balloon by Mick Inkpen, the author who write Kipper stories. We really enjoyed it.
