"A high-quality history education will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It should inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past...... History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time."  (Purpose of Study - National Curriculum).

At Scholar Green, our coverage spans from the Stone Age through to periods post 1066.  We link our learning of the past to our local area and enrich our understanding through exciting out of school visits (please check out our annual plan for Educational Visits).  In fact, history often inspires the theme for the half term!

We also celebrate and commemorate historical events as a whole school, such as the centenary of WW1, Royal Weddings and births, the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and  Remembrance Day.  Please see some of the displays created below.
