Class: Miss Hancock - Reception (EYFS) Year: 2014 - 2015

Happy New Year! During the half term holidays was when Chinese New Year was celebrated, so this week Hedgehogs class have been learning about how and why they celebrate new year now.

We have had a special visitor come to see us today. Tang came into school to show us some special objects from Hong Kong. We got to see real Chinese decorations which were used to decorate houses, we held r

eal Hong Kong dollars as well as special red envelopes which are used to give gifts of money.

Tang also brought in some Chinese lion heads and some small chinese dragon puppets.

He showed use how they are used and we were allowed to hold them and try on the dragon costumes. We made loud music using drums, cymbals, tambourines and wooden blocks and Tang showed us how to dragon dance. We are looking forward to making up our own dragon dancing!
