Year 1 - Miss Hancock 2024 - 2025
Miss Hancock
Welcome to Year One
Welcome to Year One! In Year One we enjoy working hard but we also enjoy playing hard. We have a mixture of whole class lessons, alongside 'getting busy time'. This is where we learn through play.
For regular updates of what we have been up to please check out the Scholar Green Primary Facebook page - you'll be amazed at what we get up to!
Our PE Days are Tuesday and Wednesday. On these days, please send children to school in your PE kit rather than school uniform. Also ensure hair is tied up and no jewellery (earrings must be removed) or watches are worn.
It is very important that you listen to your child read as often as possible, as a school we like all children to read a minimum of 4 times per week. All reading diaries are checked on a Monday and children who have regularly read 4 times and had their diary signed are rewarded in class.
Our author for this half term is Jill Murphy, we will be reading lots of her stories.
Homework in Year One is as follows:
Year 1 |
Reading to parents – 4x 20 minutes per week and recorded in reading diaries by parents
Spellings weekly
Numbots web-based maths programme weekly (20mins minimum per week)
|
Although Homework will not be monitored by a physical book, it will still be monitored via Numbots/Spell check/Reading diaries.
I look forward to this year and seeing you all grow!
