Miss Hadfield- Nursery (EYFS) 2025 - 2026
Miss Hadfield
Welcome to Scholar Green Nursery !
At Scholar Green Nursery School, we believe that every child deserves the very best start to their educational journey. Our multi-age class nursery provides a nurturing, stimulating and ambitious learning environment where children aged two, three and four are supported to flourish socially, emotionally and academically.
Our curriculum is carefully designed and thoughtfully sequenced to meet the needs of all children within our nursery provision. Planning is tailored to the developmental stages of our two-year-olds, three-year-olds and pre-school children, ensuring that learning is appropriately challenging, engaging and meaningful at every age. Drawing upon the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage and informed by the National Curriculum, our curriculum provides rich opportunities for exploration, discovery and skill development, while laying secure foundations for future learning across all areas of the curriculum.
Children benefit from high-quality interactions with experienced practitioners who understand the importance of early childhood development. Staffing is carefully organised to ensure children receive the support, guidance and challenge they need. Our youngest children benefit from enhanced adult support through age-appropriate staffing ratios, 1:5 for our 2 year olds, while our older nursery children continue to be supported by highly skilled teachers and teaching assistants who work collaboratively to provide exceptional learning opportunities, the ratios are 1:8 and 1:13. This enables us to know every child as an individual and respond effectively to their unique strengths, interests and next steps.
We recognise that the most important learning in the early years goes beyond acquiring knowledge and skills. Through carefully planned experiences, purposeful play and meaningful relationships, we foster children's confidence, independence, resilience and curiosity. We place great emphasis on developing communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, physical development and self-regulation, ensuring that children are equipped with the foundational skills necessary for lifelong learning.
We believe that secure foundations established in the nursery years are essential for future success. By providing a rich, inclusive and ambitious curriculum, we ensure that children leave our nursery as capable, confident and motivated learners, ready to embrace the opportunities and expectations of Reception and beyond.
At Scholar Green Primary and Nursery School, we are proud to provide an environment where every child is valued, every achievement is celebrated, and every learning journey begins with curiosity, wonder and joy.
Our Nursery Team
At Scholar Green Nursery we aim to provide a happy, secure, friendly, stimulating environment where children learn and have fun together, supported by an enthusiastic and professional staff team.
Our Nursery is led by qualified Early Years staff:
Mrs Yarwood- EYFS lead/ SENCO
Miss Hadfield is our Nursery Teacher and she works with all the children in Nursery. Miss Hadfield works closely with the 'Rainbows' in their final year in Nursery.
Miss Brock is our 2 year old phase leader. They are called the 'Raindrops'. Miss Brock is also the deputy of our wrap around care club, 'The Den'.
Miss Aitken is our Nursery 1 phase leader. They are called the 'Sunbeams'. Miss Aitken is also the manager of our wrap around care club, 'The Den'.
Mrs Copestake is our Nursery teaching assistant and she works with our Nursery 2 children, the 'Rainbows'.
Miss Triner is our Nursery teaching assistant and she works with the 2's children, the 'Raindrops', and also works in our wrap around care club, 'The Den'.
Our Nursery
Our Nursery is a vibrant and nurturing mixed-age provision comprising E1 (our two-year-olds), N1 (our rising three-year-olds) and N2 (our children preparing for their transition to Reception). Learning alongside children of different ages helps to develop confidence, independence, communication skills and positive relationships, creating a strong sense of belonging within our Nursery family.
Every child is allocated a dedicated Key Worker who develops a close understanding of their interests, achievements and individual needs. By building strong partnerships with families, our Key Workers ensure that each child feels safe, valued and supported throughout their Nursery journey.
Reading, Stories and Nursery Rhymes
Stories are at the heart of daily life in our Nursery. Children enjoy a carefully chosen selection of high-quality texts, traditional tales, rhymes and poetry, often linked to our Author of the Term or wider learning themes.
Regular story sharing develops children's language, imagination and understanding of the world, whilst introducing rich vocabulary and fostering a lifelong love of reading. Through stories and role play, children learn to communicate ideas, retell events and express themselves confidently.
Nursery rhymes play an equally important role in supporting memory, listening skills, language development and early literacy. We encourage families to enjoy these rhymes at home and have included a selection on our class page to support this shared learning experience.
Information about current themes, learning experiences and daily routines can be found in our half-termly newsletter, which is shared with families and uploaded to our class page.
Celebrating Learning Through Tapestry
Throughout their time in Nursery, children have an individual online learning journal through Tapestry. This platform allows us to celebrate achievements, share special moments and keep families informed about their child's experiences in Nursery.
Parents and carers are encouraged to contribute by uploading photographs, achievements and memorable experiences from home. These shared experiences help us build meaningful connections between home and school and provide valuable opportunities for discussion and learning within the classroom.
Alongside our school communication systems, important updates and reminders may also be shared through Tapestry.
Outdoor Learning
We are fortunate to have a large and engaging outdoor environment that children can access throughout the year. Outdoor learning is an integral part of our provision and offers children daily opportunities to explore, investigate, create and develop physically.
Our outdoor spaces have been thoughtfully designed to provide rich learning experiences using natural resources, sensory exploration and opportunities for both large-scale and fine motor development. Whether climbing, digging, building, creating, observing or investigating, children are encouraged to learn through first-hand experiences in the natural world.
As children access the outdoor area in all weather conditions, we ask families to provide appropriate clothing, including wellington boots, waterproof coats, sun hats and sun cream where appropriate. We also recommend a spare set of named clothes for those inevitable muddy puddles and messy adventures!
Come and See us in Action
We warmly encourage families to visit our Nursery before their child starts. Visiting gives children the opportunity to become familiar with their new environment whilst allowing parents and carers to meet staff, explore the provision and ask any questions they may have.
If you would like to arrange a visit, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We also invite you to follow our school Facebook page, where we regularly share photographs and updates celebrating the wonderful learning taking place across our Nursery.
