Modern Foreign Languages

At Scholar Green, we believe that learning Modern Foreign Languages helps children to develop curiosity about the wider world and build confidence in communicating in different languages. From Year 1 onwards, pupils begin learning French, giving them an early introduction to language learning through fun, engaging and interactive activities that develop speaking, listening and cultural understanding. As children progress into Key Stage 2, they continue to build on these foundations, developing their vocabulary and conversational skills in a supportive environment. We are proud to offer pupils the exciting opportunity to take part in a five-day residential visit to Paris, where they can practise their French in real-life situations, experience French culture first-hand and develop independence and confidence. Through our languages curriculum, we aim to inspire a love of language learning and prepare pupils to be confident global citizens.
