Music
Our Ethos and Aims
At Scholar Green our music curriculum is designed to inspire creativity, confidence and a lifelong enjoyment of music and performing. Pupils are given rich opportunities to explore the inter-related dimensions of music - tempo, dynamics, pitch, duration, texture, timbre, structure and notation through engaging and practical lessons. We are proud that many of our children learn to play a variety of instruments, developing their skills and confidence as musicians over time. Our school also has an active choir and small recorder ensemble, which regularly performs at school events and within the wider community, sharing their talents and bringing joy to audiences. Through these experiences, we aim to nurture a love of music, build self-confidence and provide opportunities for every child to express themselves creatively.
Learning an Instrument
Learning a musical instrument is a huge challenge, of course, but it is also highly rewarding. Increased confidence and creativity go hand in hand with a well-documented improvement in a child's general ability to focus and progress in many other subjects. Music is a social activity - you get to meet other like-minded people and make music together with them, working together to achieve something of incredible value.
Any child wanting to learn a musical instrument can book online with The Love Music Trust. The Trust offer a wide range in instruments and a variety of lesson lengths with excellent external teachers.
